About
In February 2010 I received a notice from Stevenage Homes informing me I will be facing considerable increase of management fees this year.
This is not the cost of providing the services such as caretaking, repairs or cleaning. This is the overhead incurred for managing such services.
It used to be a fixed 12.5%, in-line with private sector management charges. But Stevenage Homes decided to raise the management overhead to over 50% of the value of services provided.
I was expecting this but was still unhappy.
I blogged about the situation on my personal site. Lots of people found my post via Google after searching for “Stevenage Homes management fees”.
I was obviously not the only person annoyed at the rise.
Or the way it was justified.
Or the way it is being presented as a done deal.
But what could we do?
A previous attempt to organize leaseholders independently of Stevenage Homes foundered. Strangled by bureaucracy I think.
So I decided to set up this site for Stevenage Homes Leaseholders to contact each other, voice their grievances and maybe organize a response.

Hello,
I was wondering if you accept guest post for your blog. If you do, I would like to submit a few. I’m a recent college graduate, with an English major, looking to build out my portfolio. I can write on a wide variety of topics and am sure you would be happy with the quality. Please email me back if you are interested. Thank you for your time.

Hi Kathleen,
We would be glad to publish any post that fitted the site. Anything which would likely affect / interest UK based leaseholders. That is holders of long-term leases on properties within managed blocks.
We are an entirely voluntary organisation and could not offer any fess I’m afraid.
Regards
Tim
Dear All
I am the owner of a property in Archer Road, Stevenage. I am absolute disgusted by the increase in management fees and this needs to be stopped.
The management fees should be limited to 12.5% maximum.

Please feel free to get in contact with me.
Hi Simon,
You are not alone in this. But not many people were interested in fighting the increases. No one seems to know how the new management proposals will effect management fees.
Any suggestions as to how we can be more effective are very welcome.
